Important Skincare Steps That Should Not Be Missed!

I have a great passion for skincare and am more than happy to answer your questions and help advise you what to use. You can see in the photo the exact products I use for my routine, as you can see it's all Elemis - I am obsessed as you really do get amazing visible results. Here is a guide of what products you should have and when you should use them.

1. Makeup Remover - remove your makeup every evening! Face wipes are NOT efficient enough. Use makeup remover and micellar water

2. Cleanser - double cleanse morning and evening once make up has been removed. I like to use an oil based cleanser first to remove any traces of dirt / makeup left of the skin, then I use a foaming face wash for that squeaky clean feeling

3. Toner - make sure you tone after cleansing and after exfoliating to re-balance the skins pH level

4. Exfoliate - this will depend on your skin and what type of exfoliator you use, but generally do this twice a week to remove dead skin cells, stimulate collagen and deeply cleanse the pores.

5. Mask - apply no less than once or twice a week to intensely treat and pamper your skin

6. Eye Cream - the skin around your eyes is thin and very delicate. Apply less than a pea-sized amount of eye cream morning and evening. Pat this on to the eye bone - not the lids. Never use moisturiser/serums/oils around the eyes, and never use too much eye cream as you can overload the eye area amounting in a build up causing Milia (small white bumps) or even cause or worsen eye bags.

7. Oil - treating the deepest layer of the skin, any age and skin type can use this but it's more essential if you're over 40, apply before your serum and moisturiser. If you have oily skin, don't be afraid of oils - oil can actually help oily skin!

8. Serum - treating the middle layers of the skin, any age and skin type can use this but it's more essential if you're over 30, apply between oil and moisturiser

9. Day Cream - treating the top layer of your skin, protecting and nourishing

10. Night Cream - Repairs, hydrates and nourishes, drip feeding the skin over 8 hours while you sleep

11. Neck and Decollete Balm - The skin on your neck and decollete is a lot thinner than the skin on your face, this means it will age quicker, so even more reason to look after it! I use a balm especially designed to look after this delicate area. Alternatively you could just make sure you bring your moisturiser down to cover this area.

12. Lip Balm - I usually apply this as soon as I wake up and just before I go to sleep and will top up throughout the day if needed.

13. Oil - optional until you're about 40 years old. Oils go on before serum and moisturiser treating the deepest layers.

14. Serum - optional until you're about 30 years old. Serum goes on after oil but before moisturiser.

15. Day Cream - treating the top layers of the skin, protects and nourishes the skin.

16. Night Cream - repairing, hydrating and nourishing the skin while you sleep.
