7 easy steps to remove your gel polish at home

This is a complimentary treatment when you're having your gels reapplied. Never be tempted to pick the gels off as this will cause damage to the nails. If you need your gels removed, book in with me or if you want to give it a go yourself at home, here's my guide on how to remove them safely.

You will need:

- Emery board

- Gentle nail buffer

- Foil approx 5x8cm

- Cotton Pads broken into halves or quarters

- Acetone nail polish remover

- Orange wood stick or cuticle pusher

- Cuticle oil

- Moisturiser

Method

1. First you will need to buff the top coat of the gel off. This breaks the seal as the acetone will not break the top coat down.

2. Once you have removed the shine, saturate the cotton pad and place onto the nail.

3. Keeping the pad in place, wrap the foil around the nail with the pad on and secure tightly.

4. Now all the nails are wrapped, leave to soak for about 5 mins or so.

5. Remove the foil and pad, one nail at a time and gently scrape the polish away with the orange wood stick, it should flake off fairly easily. If you have some stubborn areas, soak them again and repeat the process.

6. Once the gel is removed, use a gentle buffer to smooth over the nail plate.

7. Apply cuticle oil and moisturiser to nourish.

Therapist Tips - it may be easier to do one hand at a time, as it can be fiddly once you have the foils on!
